“Tech Neck” is the result of repetitive and prolonged slouching of the head, most commonly from looking down at electronic devices.

Chronic slouching of the neck changes the optimal position of the muscles that hold up your head. This leads to inappropriate compensation of the muscle group.

Ultimately, the muscles propping up the head are being asked to do too much in a bad position.

These unfavorable positions can lead to muscle strains, neck and shoulder pain, headaches, stiffness, and muscle problems.

Tips To Improve Tech Neck:

  1. Raise your screen to eye level. This helps relax the muscles in the back of the neck.

  2. Take breaks. Understand that the neck needs some rest and relaxation after working hard.

  3. Set up an ergonomic work environment.

  4. Set a timer. Use tools on your phone to set a reminder to get up and loosen your muscles.

  5. Use a chair with a headrest.

  6. Stretch and strengthen that neck.
