Robotic Spine Surgery

The use of computer guided navigation during surgery allows less tissue damage and dissection to accomplish accurate placement of instruments and hardware.

This is accomplished by using live 3-D imaging, special computers, guiding machines, markers on the body as reference points, and special instruments to help with surgery.

Advantages of Robot Navigated Spine Surgery

Robot assisted procedures allow for the surgical team to pre-plan the surgery before it begins. With computers and advanced imaging, hardware can be maneuvered in 3-D and a blueprint for surgery is made.

Less tissue damage

Less blood loss

Less radiation for both surgeon and patients

Risks of Surgery

There is no surgery without risks. They include but are not limited to: bad reaction to anesthesia, surgical site infection, prolonged pain, nerve injury, spinal fluid leak, and the need for additional surgery.
